"..Across the country, we value our independence, dignity, and looking out for one another... Caregivers are doing our best, it’s time for Congress and our federal policy to catch up." @RepDebDingell@thehill
Americans want to age at home — Congress must help make it possible: In this @thehill op-ed, @RepDebDingell highlights that most of people would prefer to #ageathome, connected to our families and communities. https://t.co/88kNrYv5t4
"..Families are coming together in new ways to support community living. Our needs have changed and we’re all doing our best; what hasn’t changed is our federal policy. Good policy can transform our ability to navigate the pressures of work, family and care..." @RepDebDingell
This @JAMANetworkOpen study found that hospital at home was associated with similar or better short-term clinical outcomes compared with traditional inpatient care among appropriately selected patients. https://t.co/pKSTbZyhOQ
Jared Conley, @jconleymd an emergency medicine physician at @MGHMedicine and @harvardmed, said that expanding access to SNF-at-home will ease the need to board patients in the emergency department — often dozens of people each night.
"Removing barriers that prevent providers and payers from offering SNF-at-home would ease ED boarding, help reduce delays in discharges from hospitals and contribute to skilled nursing capacity, said Krista Drobac, MHH executive director.

Demand for SNF-at-home will continue to grow as the silver tsunami of baby boomers reach 65, along with skyrocketing rates of obesity and chronic diseases like diabetes and heart failure, said Katherine Piette, @Corstrata, a virtual care-at-home agency.
Moving Health Home looks forward to continuing to work with policymakers and stakeholders to advance care at home models that expand access, improve outcomes, and strengthen the health care system.
Yesterday, Moving Health Home convened leaders across the health care system for our webinar: “SNF at Home: The Next Frontier of Care in the Home.”
If you were unable to join us live, the recording and materials are now available: https://t.co/C4PaYQcELY
Key takeaways:
• Patients benefit from recovery at home. #Hombased care can improve the patient experience while reducing exposure to facility-based risks.
• #Medicare policy will be critical to scaling these models.
“As evidence continues to emerge from #Medicare demonstrating improved #outcomes and #cost efficiencies, more state leaders may consider pursuing a state plan amendment or partnering with managed care organizations to make Hospital at Home available to Medicaid beneficiaries."
“Expanding #Medicaid coverage for #hospitalathome would extend access to critical populations...can benefit significantly from receiving acute-level care in the comfort of their homes,” Krista Drobac said to @McKHomeCare
https://t.co/47SGVF1ivQ
Drobac said #Medicaid has spent decades building expertise in home- and community-based care, and #policymakers at the state and federal level need to recognize the #value of acute care services in the #home for Medicaid beneficiaries.
Don't miss out. MHH is holding a virtual briefing on SNF at Home: The Next Frontier of Care in the Home on March 31, 200 PM ET.
The webinar will explore the current landscape of SNF at Home and what’s needed to implement the model in Original Medicare.
