@NolanAnalyst I wouldn’t say it was terrifying. It had an off kilter, weirdness that felt very unlike Hollywood. Certainly felt pity. It was like a lost child.

Saw Nolan's The Odyssey. 4/5. Starts a little uncertainly but steadily builds into heartfelt spectacle. Some patchy acting and odd editing choices hold it back. The woman next to me said, "I've seen all this before... in Pirates of the Caribbean." 🙄🙄🙄

Just saw Disclosure Day for the second time. I have to say, I greatly enjoyed it without my expectations. There was pure magic in many scenes. I’d missed so much the first time. The score really jumped out at me, too. Marvellous.

@colemanjspilde Not sure about the covid connection but I’m more amazed that people aren’t comparing or are aware of the real world events of which the film is based on. I certainly recommend people watch the documentary, The Age of Disclosure.

Disclosure Day was beautiful. Beneath the occasional over-the-top moment is a genuinely moving 1970s-style espionage thriller with a strong emotional core. To get a fuller sense of what the film is really about, I'd recommend watching The Age of Disclosure alongside it. Magic.

Utterly ludicrous that Project Hail Mary is rated 12A. My 7yo was fully engaged, loved a film that didn’t treat him like an idiot, and laughed in all the right places. I showed him Close Encounters recently, so he was impressed when that scene appeared.

I usually think these types of folk horror can only be made in Britain, but the influence on Hereditary (2018) is obvious and works beautifully. Penda’s Fen (Alan Clarke, 1974) leans more into political and religious oppression, but is no less startling.

Just rewatched ‘Last Year at Marienbad’ directed by Alain Resnais.
The last time I saw it was 17 years ago and it hit even harder this time.
A hypnotic dream of memory, obsession, architecture and time folding in on itself. Surrender to it and you shall be rewarded… I think!
