🇬🇧 IS IT TIME FOR A BRITISH REVOLUTION? 🇬🇧

Not a revolution of violence.

A revolution of ordinary people standing together and demanding change.

People are tired of shouting at their televisions.
Tired of feeling ignored.
Tired of believing their voices don’t matter.

So maybe it’s time we did something different.

A peaceful movement built by the people — through marches, protests, community, campaigning and ultimately the ballot box.

From towns and cities across England, people standing shoulder to shoulder and saying:

WE WANT CHANGE.
WE WANT TO BE HEARD.
AND WE’RE NOT GOING AWAY.

No violence.
No hatred.
No division.

Just ordinary people peacefully exercising their democratic rights and refusing to remain silent.

This doesn’t belong to one politician or one organisation.

It belongs to everyone who believes Britain can be better.

Could we build something massive together?

Could thousands become tens of thousands?

Could tens of thousands become millions?

Every movement starts somewhere.

Maybe ours starts now. 🇬🇧

🚨 ABSOLUTE BRITISH WAR HERO.

Alec Horwood was no stranger to escape and endurance long before Burma. Captured at Dunkirk in nineteen forty, he broke free and made his way home through Antwerp, earning the Distinguished Conduct Medal for the feat. Commissioned soon after, he was serving as a lieutenant with the first sixth Battalion of the Queen's Royal Regiment, attached to the first Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, when his unit was sent to clear a Japanese position dug in at Kyaukchaw, close to the Assam border in Burma.

On the eighteenth of January nineteen forty four, Horwood went forward with the leading company as its mortar observation officer. Air bombing had already stripped the ground of every scrap of cover, leaving him lying in the open for the whole of that day. From there he directed not only his own mortars but those of a half troop from another unit, guiding fire as the company tried to pinpoint the exact location of Japanese bunkers and machine gun nests. Sniper fire, machine gun fire and mortar bombs searched for him throughout, yet he stayed at his post. That night he returned with detailed and valuable information on the enemy positions, information the attack would depend on.

The following day he moved forward again with a fresh company and set up an observation post on an exposed, precipitous ridge. Under continual enemy fire he directed accurate mortar support for two separate attacks that day. He then carried out a personal reconnaissance along the bare ridge, deliberately drawing Japanese fire onto himself so that the company preparing to attack could see exactly where the enemy lay. He stayed out on that ridge through the night.

On the morning of the twentieth he brought his mortars into action once more, supporting yet another attack, this time from the rear of the enemy position. Convinced the Japanese defence was close to breaking, he volunteered to lead the assault planned for that afternoon himself. He led it with such calm and resolute bravery that his men reached the enemy wire. Standing upright in the wire itself, directing and leading his men forward with no regard for the fire now coming at point blank range, he was mortally wounded.

He died of his wounds that day, aged thirty, his widow Madeline left to raise his memory alone. He is commemorated on the Rangoon Memorial in Burma. The position at Kyaukchaw fell to British forces four days later, on the twenty fourth of January, a result the citation credits in large part to Horwood's cool judgement and personal example over those three days under fire. His widow received his Victoria Cross from King George the Sixth at Buckingham Palace that December. It now rests in the Lord Ashcroft Gallery at the Imperial War Museum, a quiet object standing in for three days a man spent walking towards the fire rather than away from it, and the wire he never stepped back from.

Belatedly, the government are sensibly taking Speciality Steel in Rotherham into public ownership from the failed previous owner, Liberty Steel.

The preferred bidder was never likely to perform.

The government must now accelerate big vision by merging Speciality Steel with British Steel, and invest in both. This is in the long term strategic national interest, and can create a viable group.
