telling my baby at 2 am that I simply cannot engage in care work right now & I hope he seeks care from someone he’s been a more consistent sleeper with
@PoliticalAdrift I am hesitant to invest without knowing it will fit as I had a hard time finding a good fit with disposables. Same reason for my kids—a lot of money to invest without knowing if they’ll accept it
To celebrate making our last daycare/PreK payment (not including future summers) today…
I calculated how much my family has spent on childcare for our two kids up to kindergarten.
We sent them to mid-cost centers in Denver & Mpls (think: YMCA), nothing fancy: $197,680.

@1goodtern I love your account, and appreciate your approach. My fam (2 adults, 2 elementary) are still masking in work and school with high quality respirators—to protect our community and ourselves!
@simplyjennifer@CarissasNewLife I really like my All Clad. The weeknight skillet is big enough for a real meal, and was our first piece—they’re kinda spendy, but won’t need replacing
@Freeyourmindkid Yes. My children are young and I want to enjoy a disability-free life for as long as I can so I can be with them. I also want to offer that protection to members of our community.
@Jesse_Brenneman (Two adults + 5yo + 8yo. Youngest is the only one who has had Covid, one mild case at age 4 from preschool—she masked, best bud didn’t)
@Jesse_Brenneman We travel less than before but still went to Disney 🤷🏻♀️ Just masked in planes/indoors, ate outside, and masked in crowds/lines. We made it home healthy, and happy.
We mask at work/school, don’t do eat-in restaurants but our kids eat at school. Minimize risk, but can’t eliminate.
