@dblackpiano@balkwhisperer He literally just got two bases in that video lol. He is not required to advance to third to get third. It is 100% umpire judgement and they will place him where they believe he would have reached without the obstruction.
@dblackpiano@balkwhisperer That is contradictory. Umpires determine where, it may be no bases at all, it may be one, it may be two. But you are not guaranteed or protected any.
@BenVerlander@ScoringChanges So every umpire who has ever made this call was wrong? Because I have never seen it called the other way. How is that possible?
@dead_baseball@JKasten187@ONUG1776 The umpire manual is made for Umpires, they are aware that is referring to a fly ball beyond first or third base. It is easy for someone who is not an umpire to misinterpret it, which is what has happened.
@JKasten187@dead_baseball@ONUG1776@BenVerlander I donβt believe everything I read lol. Announcers donβt know the rules, players donβt know most rules, and I certainly donβt buy into βThe MLB said this..β that means nothing to me unless they say who said it. Thatβs not how quoting sources works.
@JKasten187@dead_baseball@ONUG1776@BenVerlander Who at the MLB is all Iβd like to know. Pretty large organization. Do the janitors there know the rules? Iβm not angry at all actually neither of us are changing each others minds. One of us has been to umpire school and one hasnβt. I have 5 examples of this being fair you have 0
