Hey followers! Welcome to my profession Twitter page! For the record, I wanted my handle to be “MrAustinandHisArmyofTinyHumans” but @Twitter said no. 🙄
The Kansas Legislature is Broken
You spend months researching, writing, & giving testimony on bills just for a few legislators to shove brand new ideas that have never been proposed, discussed, or vetted into conference committee bills at the very end of session.

@howie_hua I’m literally giving a talk at the NCTM conference in Seattle this week called “what’s wrong with 7’s vibe?”!!!! It is my least favorite number, period!
I’d like to dedicate this assignment to the #DocSquad group chat, @oliviarodrigo, and those Panera lemonades that have enough caffeine to take down horses. One step closer to #almostDrAustin
“And these are pictures of the Ancient Roman Forum” “Oh so from the 19..19..1990s??”………. “Friend, I’m from the 1990’s do you think I’m this old?” “Well you sometimes look a little broken like that.”
Thank you @ESSDACK for the opportunity to continue to present about the connections between math and SEL! Had a blast learning, making new connections, and thinking through ways to make my professional practice better. #b2r23
Come see @MrAustininKCK at #B2R23 for his session, "Building on the Shaky Foundation: Procedural Fluency in an Emergency"! His sessions are always standing room only 🙌

Calling all children “scholars” centralizes academic performance as the most important part of a student’s identity.
I call students “children” because it represents all of their qualities, their whole identity, their humanity.

Very excited to start digging deeper and sharing this research! I am still floored that I get the opportunity to speak at #NCTM in February! #WhatsWrongWith7sVibe
@LisaGWalk Yes, and educators need to truly understand what is meant when we talk about fluency in math. We must recognize that fluency doesn’t just mean speed—it means efficient, flexible, and accurate thinking which all contribute to a fluent (and therefore faster) mathematician.
