For the final assignment of the year, my content partner @MrJKMitchell and I had students do Historical Hot Takes. This was a great way to end the year using CER with humor. These were some of the ones from my group! #teachertwitter#edutwitter#sschat
As somebody who teaches both World History & US History, it was a special day where both set of students could complete the same activity!!! My 8th graders considered the causes of the civil war and my 7th graders worked with the reasons for the Fall of Rome
It’s Day of Giving! Big Red helped us surprise Mindy, a student in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program all the way from Australia! Thank you for helping to support our students! ❤️🤍
I tried out the Sketch-Tell-Connect with all my classes this week. Pics are from the first rep.
I absolutely love this template! It’s a keeper!

In honor of us learning about Manifest Destiny this week, I share with you one of my favorite videos my content partner @MrJKMitchell and I made over Western Trails! We made a matchmaking game over the major trails. Enjoy! #sschat#edutwitter

Tried something I saw on Twitter called “Dividing the Pie”
Students were given 5 different groups that migrated west & their motivations for going. They then made a pie chart to illustrate their answer to the question: “Were some motivations more influential than others?”
Students did an awesome job with this and their engagement was through the roof. Definitely going to do this again. Here are some of the Masterpieces 3/3 #sschat#engagement#edutwitter
Been a busy week and haven't posted an amazing activity we completed! Ss last week completed the Masterpiece Matchup that was found by my awesome content partner @MrJKMitchell. Ss were given a source and created their own artwork based on the source they were given. 1/3 #sschat
Next, they each were given the sources but had no topic or background information about them. They had to use the Masterpieces to figure out which ones matched the sources. They then had to pull out details from the source and Masterpiece that gave it away. 2/3 #sschat
New test strategy today: Ss were to write whether west. expansion was MORE + or - using prim. source docs. Rather than asking them to memorize docs, we provided 14 prim. sources that we'd used during the unit. It was incredible to watch them analyzing docs & improving their claim
