I once shared on Facebook a post from a group that said, “some people teach the curriculum and some people teach the students” and a prominent person in TX theatre education messaged me about how I should take that down- I still stand by this, regardless of her “mentoring”
My favorite kind of theatre teachers are ones who are willing to serve and grow kids, regardless of who they are. #TTSF fills my cup because I’m surrounded by so many of them.
@JB_HISD_Theatre Pause. That’s 58 kids that’s are being served by their theatre programs so much that they are wanting to pass that on to others. Once I was one of those kids sitting in a room (w/ Gary Cooper) just like this.
Thank you for supporting educators with your whole heart.
“Teachers need to also be diligent about ______” is not an acceptable solution to addressing issues. There is only so much that we can actively monitor and patrol.
A real conversation that needs to happen is that theatre teachers shouldn't have to fight to use their theatre spaces. This might seem small, but it's a breaking point.
@CWicksClassroom I’ve been advocating for this for a long time. It would grow both teachers in the room and would result in much more relevant feedback to the current classroom (not the classroom of ten plus years ago).
As I sit here and work on my spring schedule, I am getting excited about the work I get to do with my amazing students both in the classroom and on the stage. Big things are coming!
