We want to wish a big congratulations to AVID & English teacher Mr. Dolnick on his Herb Kohl award!!! Mr. Dolnick has been at WAC for 8 years and tirelessly works to support students and the entire WAC community. CONGRATS DOLNICK! WAWMproud #BulldogOn
@AVID4College@WACentralHS Thank you! The day @KentKleinowski invited me to join the AVID program (almost eight years to the day) changed my life and educational career for the better. Best thing to happen to me.
@ClintSmithIII I use your book in my AP Language and Composition class, and as a building we are using it for our staff book discussions. You’ve long been one of my favorite journalists, and it has been such a joy to use your work in my class - especially a book of such merit and quality.
Happy Thanksgiving, Bulldogs. In honor of the holidays, we present to you a special Central Celebrations - written entirely by students of West Allis Central. Visit the link https://t.co/Eis5gWa12D in order to read all of the things that make Central great! #BulldogOn#WAWMProud
Really proud of our amazing AVID Team for putting this together so quickly. And so excited about how many students showed up to practice for next week’s test!
Shout out to the 50+ juniors who took the initiative to attend our Practice ACT this morning! Thanks to the AVID Team for organizing—AVID is all about bringing our school community closer to reaching our goals for college and career success! #WAChouse#ThisIsAVID#WAWMproud
@MsHansonFP @MsGerloski My Honors 9 kids played Werewolf as a way to practice inferencing (and to celebrate all of the incredible blogs they’ve made). Gotta love whodunnits!
Today, AVID 11 and 9 got together to play Among Us - as an incentive for the students who had all of their work done. (Note to teachers: this incentive really works.) Rumor is that Mr. Dolnick and @MsGerloski won the games in their breakout rooms. 😎😎 #NotSus
@MrRudeyHolla@MsGerloski I was the imposter in the two games we played and eliminated many of them from it without ever being a suspect, because sweet, clueless Mr. Dolnick could never!!! 😎
Three amazing young ladies that I have been lucky enough to teach. All were leaders in the classroom and wonderful people outside of it. Congratulations, girls.
I like to think Jack’s directorial debut was the amazing AVID promotional video he created for us. So proud of this young man, who I had the honor of befriending during his time as a student at Central. A Bulldog alumni who is out there in the world doing big things. :)
This was no one’s definition of a perfect first week back to school, but I’ll take it all the same. It’s good to teach again - and to get to interact with/meet so many awesome kids. Hopefully we can all make the 2020/2021 school year the best it can be!
A @YahooSports exclusive with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo on teams waiting for him to request a trade in offseason: “That’s not happening. Some see a wall and go in [another direction]. I plow through it.” https://t.co/CBCBZUrMia
Today I hosted a Zoom with some of my AVID 9 (soon to be AVID 10) students, to check-in before the start of the school year. (I unfortunately didn’t think to ask to take a picture until after people started to leave.) It was good to be around my family again. Ready for 2020-21!
Avoid the vague "officer-involved" for shootings and other cases involving police. Be specific about what happened. If police use the term, ask: How was the officer or officers involved? Who did the shooting? If the information is not available or not provided, spell that out.
