@DalleyNicole Format was an idea from my high school PE teacher. Students were very engaged and teamwork was awesome. Left it open for teams to develop their own strategies as well. It even rained on them and they didn’t complain 😂
Can’t wait for my PE 6/7 group to try our first Orienteering activity. This one is an “Adventure Race”/ “Scavenger Hunt” where students work in teams to locate markers as outlined on their map. The further away the marker = more points for you team!
Hey @NLESDCA#physed people 👋🏻. If you’re like me and preparing to deliver PE classes online, I want to know what you’re up to 🤨. Let’s start a thread, and share some ideas as we transition to online instruction. #NLESDvirtualtips
@jellybeanrowse @NLESDCA Good suggestion, thanks for sharing! Some tabata/HITT, bodyweight workouts, yoga, stretching or balance activities may come in handy in this case. Personally I think the "minute to win it" or "coin/shoe/cone flip" fitness games are always super fun. 😎
Some awesome discussions and idea sharing going on here 🙌🏻. I think it is very important that we ease into this, take our time and find value in positive online interactions. Here’s what I’ll be doing for day 1 of virtual PE - https://t.co/1b9FpcYJYZ
I’ve created a Virtual PE Lesson Plan template that I hope will help me organize my lessons and give me some direction in terms of learning outcomes and activities 🤞🏻.
@MrBolandspage@JohnRayBaird@NLESDCA Same! I was checking out this PA/Fitness Journal from @OPENPhysEd which is pretty cool. It also has some suggested activities built in as well. Check it out 👇🏻 https://t.co/RdxzR4bONu
@JohnRayBaird@NLESDCA Scavenger hunts are great. I’ve been using @darebees a lot for my fitness warm ups and workouts. They have a ton of free circuits, programs, challenges, etc for all types of workouts. Could be cool to have students choose their own workouts to complete at home.
Finished the @schoolsportsnl Northern Girls Volleyball Sectional today with a loss in the semi final game. Our girls played their hearts out all weekend and we are so proud. Thank you for leaving it all on the court and congratulations to our senior players.
🐺🏐
Had a couple wicked classes outdoors the last couple days with our PE groups. Some #Ultimate and #DiscGolf with our HL group, and some #quinzee building today with PE 6/7s. #OutdoorED
@SWF79@NLESDCA All very important concepts for sure, especially with the increased sitting from working/learning at home. Guest speakers is a great consideration, and honestly something I wasn’t really thinking about. 👍🏻
@DalleyNicole@NLESDCA Our girls spent hours doing @CosmicKidsYoga during the last lockdown, really cool for younger kids. @boks_canada keeps pumping out a ton of awesome resources for physical activity at home, their calendars are really neat too. Check out @activebayman like you said, awesome stuff☝🏻
