Remember, all of Cornell girl’s friends knew she was lying and that it was consensual because she told them as much
and instead of leaking this when she eventually cried rape (after getting uninvited from a Halloween party) they kept it to themselves
In fact, they helped encourage her to believe she was raped because it was less embarrassing for them than having a friend who was proudly gang banged by the frat
Whereas one of the men, misguided as he was, tried to do what he thought was the honorable thing by leaking the “free pussy” Snapchat message
Dawg, never let them hit you with the sugar and spice and everything nice bullshit again, they’re pack hunters and they’re more predatory and evil than the frat bros
Last thought for now on Cornell case: we need to differentiate between sexual assault/rape (which obviously happens!) and gross behavior.
The first should be handled by police/courts, not a university office.
Should a university take action to discourage alcohol- and drug-fueled orgies? Yes of course.
I think some disciplinary measures here were fully appropriate. But also:
- stop teaching that regretted intoxicated sex = rape
- encourage both men & women to take responsibility for their behavior
- when misconduct happens, there should be counseling for all the students involved, with apologies where appropriate. But current Title IX procedures prohibit mediation as an answer.
From the NYT
- it ruined her reputation publicly
- she tried to deny it happened
- in the early days she owned what happened entirely as something crazy she chose to do
- eventually she sees someone say she was raped, not a whore, while scrolling online
- “aha, a way out”
- starts increasingly implying she was a victim to test out the public reaction
- realizes it’s more sympathetic than “I’m sexually adventurous” and realizes it’s a path to salvaging what’s left of her reputation
- torn because she still likes the guy and doesn’t want to throw him under the bus to save herself
- eventually her relationship with the guy she was protecting deteriorates anyways and exactly the same day that happens she goes and tries to tell police it was rape
The real predators here were the feminists and sex positivity activists who convinced an entire generation of young women that having risky sexually adventurous sex was empowering and heroic
But at the end of the day, she made choices then tried to turn those choices around on everyone else when the heat came down
The Cornell slut:
> tells everyone it was consensual sex
> gets disinvited from a Halloween party
> changes her mind, decides she was raped
This woman belongs in jail.
Incredible reporting from the NYT.
The woman at Cornell did not consider herself a rape victim until she saw people making fun of her for being a slut.
She went to her "big sister" in her sorority and confessed that she had been a slut. Then while texting one of the men she reassured him that she enjoyed the first part of it and nothing illegal had happened.
Later, she texted him that she was traumatized. Not by the sex, but because everyone was laughing at her.
One week after her "rape," she was mad that she got disinvited from a party at the frathouse of her "rapists"!!!!!!!
Only a few days later, she decided that she was a "rape victim." Nobody would laugh at her anymore! She went from an object of ridicule and shame to a hero.
Once again, we need to have a serious conversation about how women are being lied to.
People do not respect sluts. Even at woke Ivy League universities. Human nature is what it is.
The lesson is women should protect their reputations by not doing things like this.
@millnats6064460@mtracey Did Lucy H. Craig (ie Cornel Jane Doe) take steps to keep the defendant students names private to protect them from "trauma" and reputational harm?
The Tawana Brawley gang-rape story turned out to be a hoax.
The Christine Blasey Ford gang rape accusation against Kavanaugh turned out to be a hoax.
The 2006 Duke lacrosse gang-rape story turned out to be a hoax.
The 2009 Hofstra University gang-rape story turned out to be a hoax.
The 2014 University of Virginia gang-rape story turned out to be a hoax.
The “Cornell 7” gang-rape accusation turned out to be a hoax.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to “believe all women.”
Who cares if she's thought that she was raped. She's not a prosecutor.
Surveys consistently show gaps between public views of rape and actual legal standards. People often treat regret after intoxication, group encounters, or moral discomfort as equivalent to the crime, while statutes require specific proof of force, incapacity, or clear non-consent. The DA in this case noted most people fail to distinguish what feels wrong from what is criminal.
@e_galv In other words, they have reasonable doubt. If they have a reasonable doubt that they got raped, then please stop asking judges and jurors to find, beyond a reasonable doubt, that a crime occurred.
@seizonsha1@aidannonx She got anonymity in the court of law. The rest of us have a First Amendment right to dox this fake accuser if we want and we are going to.
