In 2001, when Koko’s best gorilla friend, Michael, passed away, Robin Williams paid her a visit to cheer her up. Both laughed uncontrollably, and for Koko it was the first time in months.

When Koko was told of Robin's passing in 2014, she was reportedly very saddened. Robin was a special friend to her who she never forgot.
