16 year old Brian May. Photo by his father, Harold May. May is pictured with his famous homemade guitar, the "Red Special," which he built with his father, Harold, from household materials. The body of the guitar was crafted from a block of an old fireplace mantel.
He used the Red Special extensively throughout his career as the guitarist for the band Queen.
May and his father began building the unique instrument when Brian was 16 years old.
Voyager 1 will soon break a space record.
By the end of 2026, Voyager 1 will become the first human-made object so distant from Earth that a radio signal will take 24 hours to reach it. Currently, the probe is 25.3 billion kilometers away, and it takes 23 hours and 33 minutes for a signal to reach it. By November 15, 2026, it will be 25.9 billion kilometers away, crossing the symbolic boundary of a light-day.
The probe was launched in 1977 and is still operating in conditions of intense radiation and cold. NASA plans to maintain its systems for several more years.
If you've ever wondered where Tattyreagh is, wonder no more. @Tim_Mc_Garry and myself have very specific directions!

Fun fact.
Voyager 1, currently over 15 billions miles away (roughly 2.5 light hours), still operates using 69 KB of memory, 8 track tape and Fortran code written in 1977.
I'm doing a new solo stand-up tour next year. Delighted to say I've already sold out one show in Bangor and am now adding an early show. If this keeps up I'll soon be able to afford a pint in the Europa.
