I agree with this, but the critical factor here is because medical science has progressed to a point where most families in developed countries don’t have to have many kids “just in case” one or more of them die anymore, so they focus on the kids they do have.

I’ve been a defender of DA2 since its release because I have maintained that despite the gameplay being tedious at best and shit at worst, the writing was actually really good and depicted the struggle of the poor and oppressed pretty well.
