The world turns a blind eye to the suffering of those with darker skin and tightly coiled hair who have been erased through neglect and racial discrimination.
A devastating famine is destroying El Fasher in Sudan In the Abu Shouk Zamzam and Al Salam camps families face intentional starvation Women elders and children the most vulnerable suffer severe hunger and widespread malnutrition Deaths from hunger are tragically recorded daily while the RSF militia supported by the United Arab Emirates often described as the Zionist colonial state’s lapdog in the Middle East blocks food and aid from reaching those in desperate need This is not a humanitarian crisis it is a war crime
I stand in full solidarity with the people of Darfur and Sudan We must demand immediate humanitarian access and an end to this brutal campaign of starvation and siege Those responsible and their supporters must be exposed and held accountable The world must not turn away.
Sudan is facing brutal conflict, and indifference from the world. Where is the funding? Where is the accountability? We call on all with influence to step up. My statement: https://t.co/Ez1RfpjEa1
“Whether Khartoum is captured or not captured, it’s irrelevant,” Hamdok said on the sidelines of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s governance meeting in Morocco. Says the guy who doesnt have to live in Sudan and spends his time hanging with billionaires. https://t.co/AIfLyDmdJJ
Now that the RSF militia has been expelled from Khartoum, reconstruction is not only feasible but also a humanitarian imperative.
Restoring hospitals, water supply, and basic services-while clearing away war remnants-will save lives, boost the economy, reduce hunger, and allow displaced people to return home.
Unfortunately, Hamdok doesn’t want that to happen. He’s extremely bitter that his militia allies have been defeated in the capital and the thought of Khartoum being reconstructed scares him because it would mean a personal political loss.
When Hamdok says that Khartoum can’t be reconstructed, he’s being disingenuous. The city can be restored-at least enough to ease suffering. Hamdok simply doesn’t want that to happen.
US intelligence has been wrong before about Sudan, in 1998 when we bombed the al-Shifa. Sudanese are right to be skeptical when they are not presented with the evidence behind the accusations. Fortunately, these are sanctions in name only; have no $ impact.https://t.co/rxF8ba8aeJ
