Thank you to Principal Joan Barbagiovanni for showing me around Burlington County’s Alternative School earlier! I was able to hear directly from the students about how this school has changed their lives for the better and it is wonderful that we have this resource in Burlington.
Congrats to the BCAS Scholars of Month.

Congrats to the students! #BCSSSDPride#bcasweare
It truly does make a world of a difference when the students are given the chance to be engaged in education and not their phones. We use Yondr Pouches to lock up their phones and it creates a new atmosphere.
The R.O.A.D. at BCAS had their first meeting today!
Big turn out and hope to make improvements to last year’s program. @WEAREBCAS

“Yesterday I was visiting my son's school.
I see a bright colored bench in the yard. I asked if this was the only place to sit.
- And he said to me, ′′ No, that's the bench of friends. When someone is lonely or can't find a play partner, they'll sit there and others invite them to play with them."
- I tell him I thought this was great, and I asked him if he used it himself?
- He says: ′′ Yes at the beginning of the year when I was new here.
I sat there and another student came to invite me to play with him. This made me happy. And now when I see someone sitting there, I also invite them to play."
What a great idea on mutual aid and kindness to implement in all playgrounds!
The adolescent brain learns through taking risks & having experiences.
Do we design this type of learning for our middle & high schoolers?
Or do they just sit & work?
We have to consider their brains when we design their learning.
