كانت ويندي على متن سفينة الدعم التابع لرحلة الغواصة تايتان وكان زوجها ستوكتون يقودها وعلى متنها 4 اشخاص اخرين

خلال متابعتها للرحلة سمعت صوت دوي مفاجئ وسألت الموجودين: ماهذا الصوت؟

لم تكن تعلم أن الصوت الذي سمعته ناتج عن الانهيار الكارثي للغواصة تحت ضغط المياه، والذي أودى بحياة زوجها والأربعة الآخرين في لحظات.

ماحدث يسمى impolsion وهو انهيار داخلي بسبب ضغط الماء الهائل انسحقت الغواصه

الأكثر مأساوية أنها استمرت في متابعة الرحلة معتقدة أن زوجها لا يزال على قيد الحياة.

فبعد سماع صوت الدوي، وصلت رسالة من الغواصة تفيد بأنها تخلّصت من ثقلين، مما جعل الطاقم يعتقد أنها لا تزال تعمل. لكن الرسالة كانت قد أُرسلت قبل انهيار الغواصة، ووصلت متأخرة.
