"Were?" lol, universities still ARE doing this and at alarmingly increasing rates. Insane to talk about this as if it's a thing that happened in the past and we can just move on now. Tanks now! It's the only solution. But I guess the ConInc donors don't like to hear that...
5 reasons to not publish in academic journals:
1. nobody reads them. You can get more reach in one hour self-publishing on X or the stack than you will get in an eternity of being published in a leading journal.
2. the people who do read them don't matter. Much higher chance of reaching people who do matter publishing elsewhere.
3. no intellectual integrity allowed. If you publish in a journal, you are not allowed to criticize the research of people in your field, because they are likely among the blind reviewers editors will send it to. Spergs hardest hit.
4. journals are run by race communists. If you have ideas that don't comply 110% with leftist orthodoxy, you will not get published, ever.
5. academia is a sinking ship. Those journal pubs you need to put on your CV for professional advancement look good today, but in 10 years? Not likely. The system is so corrupt having pubs on your record will be a negative, indicating you were complicit in a rotten system and lacked the intelligence to see it. And what about your longer-term legacy? It's entirely likely that people who published in academic journals will, for that very reason, be excluded from serious intellectual consideration.
Heidegger on the poetic ground of an authentic being-with-others that stands in contrast to the politics of mass organization.
"Poetry is not play ... rather the awakening and delineation of an individual's ownmost essence, through which he reaches back into the ground of his Dasein. If each individual proceeds from there, then a true gathering of individuals into an original community has already occurred in advance. The crude regimentation of the all too many within a so-called organization is only a makeshift expedient, but not the essence."
The whole university model of education is in crisis and they don't even know it.
They don't provide knowledge or skills that can't be obtained to a greater degree and higher quality with a paid subscription to Claude or Opus.
The reasons they can ignore this glaring crisis for the time being are mostly political. Their sole relevance at this point is entirely dependent on maintaining a monopoly on certification for entry into professions and careers.
Take that away and the entire edifice collapses.
Never going to happen. To prove my point I challenge any professor out there to raise this as a concern at a faculty meeting. “What are we doing to regain public trust in light of our egregiously activist behavior in the recent past.” You won’t. That’s why nothing will change.
This is why the word of Melville founds the American historical Dasein more than even the Declaration. Captain Ahab lived at the edge of ontological possibility where whale hunting transforms itself from a merely commercial enterprise into a spiritual destiny.
@esjesjesj He's at the firing range with fellow marines. He's wearing an IBA and an LBV, which is the PPE for firing ranges. I know you never served in the military, so I wouldn't expect you to know, but JD and I have served.
Primetime's favorite couple – Fani Willis and Loverboy Nathan Wade – have been caught on camera… They told us they called it quits after Lickety Split, but we just caught them travelling together.
We spent half a billion dollars a year for stations like @NPR and @PBS to bury the truth, call half the country illiterate Nazis, have drag queens on tell kids to shimmy and shake and tell Americans that there are at least 3 genders.
