Physics teacher/tutor/chronic creator of teaching resources🚀. Former head of science. Unhealthy obsession with fountain pens ✒️ , coffee and exercise 🏋️♂️
If your students are still unsure about rearranging formulae ahead of the GCSE Science exams, feel free to share this free lesson with them: https://t.co/KT6HBVySG5
It’s one of the most important skills across all papers and often where marks are lost

Bit of late-night SLOP writing with the help of #notebookLM, all AI errors painstakingly corrected.
If your students struggle with circuit rules like mine, feel free to download a copy here: https://t.co/rxBdhoKpAV #edutwitter
I always struggled to find a good student worksheet for development of the atomic model, so I made my own.
It includes a QR link to an interactive presentation and quiz. Sharing it here in case it's useful for anyone else.

Friday reflection: finally cracked handing out books.
Really simple, each row given a number, matching numbered paper folder (a3) placed on desk, at end of lesson pupils put books in folder and pass to end of row. At start of lesson I put folders back on desk #edutwitter
These are the skills that come up every single year, across all six GCSE science papers.
Getting confident here can genuinely mean the difference between one grade… or more.
Feel free to share with your students,
The free lesson really is free.

Some of the most powerful skills to teach students before science exams:
✅ Rearranging equations
✅ Using the formula sheet effectively
✅ Converting values into standard units
I’ve made a free video lesson to help with exactly this:

This is part of a full course I’ve been building this year, designed to help students feel confident with every maths-based question in GCSE science.
It’s been the most common area I’ve supported students with 1:1, so I built a step-by-step version they can follow at home.
Sorting out my parents loft. Found my stash of @NUFC goalkeeper tops. Some absolute classics in here.
The skyline silhouette has to be the best of the bunch. Hislop 15.
@TaylorandPayne Managed to find mine and my dad’s 95 shirts when going through boxes at my parent’s house. As well as most home and away kits/ tracksuits since. Best NUFC home by far. My M has Shearer 9 on the back but I think my Dad’s blank XL might fit me better 30 years later.
Explaining things clearly is my job. Despite 14 years of teaching, creating this online course has challenged me to do better, be more engaging, improve clarity, and remove distractions. Unit 3 of 7 is ready to record! Mastering Maths in GCSE Science is coming soon! #edutwitter
Scripted & partly recorded Unit 2 of my "Mastering Maths in GCSE Science" course today.
After all that, the flow between Units 1 & 3 felt off, so I reworked the questions, updated the booklet & will re-record tomorrow.
On the bright side, I drew a pretty cool car though!🚗 #GCSE
In 2025-2027 exams, students will have the physics formula sheet.
With grade boundaries likely shifting, maths-in-science skills are key.
I’m working on a course to launch very soon, plus new 1:1 tutoring spots available.
DM for info! #GCSE https://t.co/WLr5aBa1Ll
🧵1/3: Opinions needed.
Writing model calculations whilst thinking about cognitive load is always a tricky balance.
Option 1: Keep it all on the page.
Less split attention, is this too intimidating to a novice? Would an expert still be required to break into steps?
🧵2/3: Option 2: QR link to Video model of the steps (or teacher live model in class if expert)
Clean, how likely are pupils going to use the QR?
Many classrooms = no phones, what then? If the teacher is not an expert (supply) = stuck.
