It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.
If we can make parents feel like they are a part of the learning experience maybe that can make remote learning more bearable for them. Students need feedback and parents can be utilized in that process.
Now to start coming up with ideas...
Our learners have experienced a situation we never faced ourselves. We need to have real conversations with them about the struggles, if we go back in person our first priority needs to be building strong relationships.

I hate to get political on my professional twitter, but I feel @BetsyDeVosED needs to know I worked harder during quarantine than before to help provide my Ss with a high quality education. I’m insulted by the assumption of the contrary. #edchat#waledchat#remotelearning
Canceling school is the best thing to do to keep our students safe and healthy, but I am extremely bummed that I won't be in my classroom till next school year. GUESS WE MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
A2 If we create enviornments that kids want to be in, they work hard to keep that privlege. Build relationships so students want to be there. Model the behaviors you want to see! If punishment is needed we need to make sure it is helpful not harmful. #KidsDeserveIt
We should always want our students to remember, they are the reason we come into school everyday! They are the reason we need to push to be better, even when times get tough. #KidsDeserveIt
Q2 We are updating our parents each week with the expectations we have for the kids and news we get from admin. Mostly we want them to know the health of our their families is our main concern! But we make ourselves available for they need anything! #masterychat
We need to learn from each other. Share our victories. Discuss our failures and how we can do it differently the next time. Talk to our students about what helps, what inhibits. We all need to learn together right now. #MasteryChat
A5 Communication is key!
Ask people for ideas and LISTEN!
How do kids what to learn?
What do parents need?
How can we help?
How can we #teachbetter?

A4 I told my students before this leave started, “if you can’t tell that we care about you then we haven’t done our job, and we will continue to care about you while we are gone.” My objective everyday is to make sure they know I care. Content after. #MasteryChat
