For the good of all students, serving in the Mehlville school district among the best educators I've ever met. @home, a husband, dad, and handyman; avid reader.
@GlastetterSci Ah, so it’s motivation that’s lacking. What if the kids were able to track their progress? Like a “show what you know” track your growth kind of idea? (Assuming you’re coming at it from a standards-based grading philosophy). If assignment’s incomplete, can’t graph it.
Yet another #FridayWin: 5th grade students had ice cream to celebrate those who showed growth on Galileo testing: and EVERYONE had ice cream! (B/C everyone showed growth!)
Another #FridayWin has been seeing students take responsibility for their actions. We all make mistakes, but the increasing number of students who own their mistakes and then take steps to correct the behavior problem is highly encouraging!
New tradition for me:#FridayWins Instead of just looking forward to time with family over the weekend, let’s reflect over the good things that have happened this week, our Wins for the week. My first #FridayWin is seeing 3rd grade students word problem computations cooperatively
Some of your colleagues might seem like they have it all together. They don’t. Everyone has struggles. Everyone is dealing with stuff. And everyone appreciates kindness.
WONDERFUL snacks for our bus drivers’ monthly meeting, prepared by our amazing café staff and planned by our terrific office staff! #CASCPlace2Learn#itmatters
@awelcome The Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flannagan is great for this. Also, the Warriors series (about personified cats) are great for animal lovers.
Today...

3. Share w/ others.
4. Shoulder blame, share credit.
5. Give a helping hand. #GivingTuesday#FutureDriven
@KidsDeserveIt A1: very thankful for my family, nuclear and extended. Also growing more thankful daily that Jesus is in control of my life. Thankful, too, for my amazing wife who leaves me in awe daily.
@DavidGeurin Thomas Hoerr has some ideas in his book The Formative Five. A PLC could create a rubric for one, explicitly teach it, and provide feedback for students. Convincing the team that it is worth that effort might be difficult at first, though.
Learned today: if you put a 64 gig flash drive full of work documents through the washer and dryer in a shirt pocket, it can still work! 😅 This is an isolated event, and not a representation of future trials...#notrecommended
