"I do the very best I know how-the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end." -Abraham Lincoln.
Do you try your best everyday? How are you going the "extra mile" for students tomorrow? How are you teaching them to be active citizens? #ssvpln
Do your students use the internet and have an opinion about it? Protests are happening all over the country on Thursday to protest the repeal of Net Neutrality. A great opportunity to have student be active citizens surrounding a bipartisan issue. #ssvpln https://t.co/WQYdfAewJ0
Agreed. As T's we need to realize that our profession does not end at the school door. To teach for social justice you must teach your community as well as your S's. A great lesson does not mean much if it's contents/results lives only within your classroom walls. #ssvpln https://t.co/INGuYsIDif
Highly recommend the website Spiral.ac for your next class discussion, video clip, or group activity. It can use Google Classroom classes and gets S's using technology (phones/laptops) for participation. Using it tomorrow to teach about modern relevancy of redlining! #ssvpln
A6: I hope that me and my PLC can mold our future units around PL. It goes very well with the new Iowa social studies/NCSS standards, and is rooted in inquiry. It gives my students control over their learning and can allow for multiple means of expression. #ssvpln#pblchat
@funkdaddytweet@newtechnetwork Agreed, seems like sometimes the small gestures or comments can create a good environment for sharing knowledge/ideas among T's or establishing that meaningful rapport with S's. However, harder (and more important) to do when you disagree with the other individual. #ssvpln
A4: Its been mentioned by a few people, but so far this semester my S's have appreciated rubrics that align with state standards to inform their projects. School libraries and historical societies have also been very helpful for my U.S. history classrooms. #ssvlpn#pblchat
Instruction evolves as the students do throughout the year. After giving interest surveys and scaffolding some PL, instructors can begin to let students form their own questions and perform inquiry about personalized areas. #pblchat#ssvpln
A2: Be able to adapt assignments and lessons. Allow for students to work in class so that you can adjust whatever is being worked on for each student. I think this will get easier over time but at first will require explanation for S's. #ssvpln#pblchat
A1: I see personalized learning as allowing each student the chance to morph a lesson or assignment to best fit their individual needs whether that be life skills, concepts, or content. Making teaching flexible for Students. #ssvpln#pblchat
Important for all students to understand the contents of this video. Students frequently use slurs ironically with one another. What would you do if you heard a student use a slur ironically? Teaching is about much more than helping students gain skills and knowledge #ssvpln https://t.co/2t0aGQYjqf
