Been thinking a lot about this concept lately. Teaching should always be student-centered, and students should be active participants in their own learning. It is the teacher's responsibility to ensure this.
Taught my second lesson at @SouthWarrenHS today! I got to teach some Shakespeare, a challenge for teachers and students alike, but it went well! Figurative language can be examined in a poem to help determine an author's theme and purpose, and that's what we focused on today!
Had a great first lesson back at South Warren High School last Thursday! I feel myself slowly becoming more and more confident in the classroom, which is a great feeling! The lesson was a primer on the themes in one of my favorite novels: The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
Had a great first week at South Warren High School with the CEPT Two program. I am very excited to start teaching and being back in the classroom after my study abroad experience last semester!
It has been a great semester. CEPT was a great experience and one that will help me tremendously in my future classroom. Special shoutout to my CEPT partner @MrFirkyFirg who I became good buddies with too:)
Students learn through collaboration with peers, instruction from teachers, the investigation into their own interests, and many more ways! It is our job as teachers to foster all students' learning in our classes. @DrMargarella
I got to teach a lesson about the Holocaust this week. There were several uncomfortable and difficult conversations, but I feel it is essential that each student knows that part of human history. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.
One thing I want in my future classroom is a big classroom library! I think it is very important for English teachers to have one so that books are easily accessible in our classes! @DrMargarella
It is our job in education to nurture diversity in our classrooms, and it's our duty to make our classrooms a safe space for every student.@DrMargarella, @WKUSTE, @CEPTatWKU, @DrakesCreekMS
One thing I have learned so far in the CEPT program is how effective Think-Pair-Share is with students. My MT uses it all the time, and it seems to inspire a lot of meaningful learning. Plus it gets the students' talkative energy out! Great cooperative learning strategy!
