If a student doesn’t have a pen, don’t ‘just give them a pen’.
Instead you could:
-Give them a pen and take note. If it happens again, follow up with a consequence
-Give them a purple pen so it’s easy to show parents days equipment isn’t right
-Teach them how to locate a pen
-Teach them how to pack properly for the day
-Privately, ask if there are any reasons why they aren’t ready
-Record any equipment issues, daily
-Teach them why being organised matters.
-Teach them to bring three pens a day.
Don’t ’just give them a pen.’ You are not Stationery Santa. Don’t teach them to be helpless. Show them you care by teaching them to be independent.
Hi all! For those that run chess club in their respective schools, does anyone use any online apps/programs of which children play on? Just curious if there is any such way since there is a demand from the students who attend my own chess club at the moment. #edutwitter#chess
