I condemn the deadly attack on a mosque in San Diego. My thoughts are with those affected.

I know many Muslims in the UK will be shaken by this, worried about their safety when going about their lives and attending mosque, and what it says about the times we’re living in. I understand those fears.

Violence like this does not happen in a vacuum. It grows in an environment where division and anti-Muslim hostility are normalised.

⭕️ Imam Taha of the Islamic Center of San Diego says all children, teachers, and staff members were safely evacuated following the shooting attack at the mosque on Monday.

“There is no threat at this moment,” the imam said in a message to the Muslim community, while urging residents to stay away from the Islamic Center for the remainder of the day.

He said casualties had been reported but were “not confirmed yet.”

The Islamic Center of San Diego, the largest mosque in San Diego County, also operates a school system serving hundreds of children across two campuses.

Now, obviously, Sharif's own staff don't call him "Pakistan's PM," they would just call him prime minister. The U.S. and Israel, of course, would call him "Pakistan's PM."
