👀 Views are my own.
I had the privilege of taking my students on a field trip to the Marshall L. Davis Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center—a powerful space dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and elevating African-American art, history, and culture.
This experience was made possible through the support of Dr. Dorothy Bendross‑Mindingall, and I’m grateful for her continued commitment to exposing our students to meaningful, community-rooted learning opportunities.
Our students engaged with impactful art exhibits and witnessed firsthand the incredible work being done in the Liberty City community. Experiences like this remind students that history is living, art tells stories, and culture deserves to be honored and protected.
This is what education beyond the classroom looks like. 🎨✊🏾📚 @MDCPS@MDCPSCentral@TurnerTechHS

📚 Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
In U.S. History, we learn that the labor movement fought for:
⚒️ Safer working conditions
💰 Fair wages
⏰ The 8-hour workday
🤝 The right to unionize
From the early struggles of workers and unions in the 19th & 20th centuries, to today’s voices like United Teachers of Dade, the fight for dignity and fairness on the job continues.
Labor Day reminds us that progress is possible when people come together. ✊🏾

📚 We’ve wrapped up our Civil War unit (1861–1865)!
⚔️ Causes: slavery, states’ rights, sectionalism
👤 Lincoln leads the Union
🪖 Grant vs. Lee
📍 Battles: Fort Sumter, Antietam, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Atlanta
📜 Emancipation Proclamation (1863)
🏛️ War ends at Appomattox
On to the next chapter in U.S. History 🇺🇸

Good morning.
On 8/18, speak life over your students, your coworkers, and yourself.
“The tongue has the power of life and death…” – Proverbs 18:21

This right here is why I teach. 🙏🏽
The grammar may not be perfect, but the message speaks volumes. Students can see when you’re real, and they value authenticity more than anything.
Even in the middle of their struggles, they know who believes in them. And that makes every long day, every challenge, and every sacrifice worth it. 💡✊🏽

8/12 – Start With Worship 🙌🏽
Good morning.
Before the emails, before the meetings, WORSHIP. On 8/12, put God first and let Him order the rest. Even if it’s 5 mins in the car. 🚗 “Seek first the kingdom…” – Matthew 6:33

Good morning.
8/11 isn’t just another day — it’s a blank page. Write it with courage, faith, and purpose.
“Write the vision and make it plain…” – Habakkuk 2:2
