The SDMA has a terrific special education program w/ amazing teachers & staff. Unfortunately, inadequate funding requires large transfers from the general fund to help pay for mandated services. The Feb 20 referendum would help fund special ed programming in our schools.
This years Parents vs Students kickball game goes to the parents with a final score of 11-9. The 5th graders had a comeback mounting but fell just short.
Thank you parents for making this special for the 5th graders!

These are elementary school children who woke up this morning. Who ate their favorite cereal. Who tied their shoes in double knots. Who laughed with friends on the bus. Now more than a dozen are dead. This isn’t normal. It doesn’t have to be this way. It can’t keep being this way
Thank you to @hendrixart for taking time to visit the Oaklawn 5th graders and thank you @MrWigdahl for setting it up. My students absolutely loved their time with you. The “horse knife” (not pictured) and “cranky werewolf” drawings were great!
A couple of takeaways from the MHS production of Little Shop of Horrors: 1. Human eating plants have great dance moves. 2. I have been repeating the same tune in my head for the last 12 hours and I’m ok with that. 3. There is always time for dental hygiene.
