It was so great getting to know my new Year 5โs for September. I thought Iโd write them a little poem that explored the challenging feeling of opening up to new teachers. Glad to say they loved it! ๐ ๐จ๐ผโ๐ซ๐

Last week, I read The Dot with my Y5s - they loved it! We decided to make it our book corner display to remind us to believe in ourselves and to always try.
โJust make a mark and see where it takes you.โ #edutwitter@MenTeachPrimary@MrTs_NQTs#thedot
@cambridge_ok @MrTs_NQTs@MenTeachPrimary The rope was in the garage and the lamp was from an old Florence Nightingale display. It is hard sometimes to find the time to prepare for lessons but the outcome of pupil engagement makes it all worth it tenfold!
Had fun being Howard Carter and having Year 5 interview me in preparation for their reports on the discovery of Tutankhamunโs tomb!

One of my Y5 boys drew me their own dot artwork after I read The Dot to them. If you know the book, youโll know I just had to frame it!
Itโs now inspired an Art/PSHE lesson with a dot mural for my calm corner ๐ Stay tuned! #edutwitter@MrTs_NQTs@MenTeachPrimary
Today, Pine class explored number patterns and rhythms to deepen their understanding of numbers. We used Garage Band and our times table knowledge to create rhythmic beats. Can you identify the times table that were used? @NHP_WAT
Today in chemistry, the children investigated soluble/insoluble materials by seeing which materials could dissolve into water and create a solution.
By documenting the learning on Numbers, the children had more time for meaningful conversations and for critical thinking!

In RE, we are looking at the significance and qualities of Islamic Art (which uses a lot of tessellation and symmetry). We then recreated our own using Sketches School on the iPad! Here are some of the childrenโs beautiful pieces! #edutwitter#sketchesschool
For Big Bang Day, year 5 decoded hieroglyphics, wrote cartouches onto handmade papyrus, built spaghetti and marshmallow pyramids, created silhouette artwork and designed a keynote presentation to showcase everything they learned! We all had so much fun!
