Writer and old (veteran)gamer. My game worlds vary but include worlds that have been my safe space. The written word is my main voice & how i best engage.
@sc0nesandc0ffee@ToddHaberkorn Such a lovely gesture from you, and a wonderful kindness from Todd. I can imagine how delighted your father would have upon watching his video and being seen in this manner. Absolutely beautiful.
That's the look i'm going for as my age progresses further.......the grey is certainly there but the length is lacking. (You won't find me on horseback though - that time for me was so many years ago.)
Oded is looking good though, and i do recall his Ardeth character being one i rated highly.
@sc0nesandc0ffee Evidence of the good in this somewhat toxic society we live in (i hope this comes out in the manner i intend it.) Lovely to hear that you had this pleasant experience.
Your accomplishments Sami, even your attempts, will always be inspiring. I'm not wired to achieve these kinds of feats, and i'm fine with this. But your efforts prove that we can set our minds to whatever goals we are able to reach, and do our very best whilst also enjoying ourselves.
And with the current news revolving around Destiny, i tend to console myself with the fact that it's only ending for me when i choose to hang up my warlock gear and step away for good - or if the servers get shut down. Until then it's a world i can invest time into and give my old man guardian a few more hero moments along the way.
I finally got to watch this when i started my day this morning. Good to see you all back together one last time, and to hear all of your thoughts. Me personally, i have quite an emotional and close attachment to Destiny, despite having a few times where i stepped away. I'll invest my time as a guardian for as long as the game remains around to be able to do so. However, i recognise everyone's views, and i see and hear much of what is circling around the internet. Some things i agree with, other attitudes i simply don't condone from the wider communities.
Enjoyed your conversation. Hopefully see you all back in this setting somewhere down the road.
@sc0nesandc0ffee Thank you, and likewise. We may not really talk but i hear your words, on here and in your videos. You make a lot of logical sense - i hope many others are listening to you also.
Even though the gamer i am means Marathon isn't a game i am comfortably wired to play, it doesn't take away the fact that there is an interesting story and world. And what you have done Jamie is provide something i prefer to always watching videos - reading material. You write with passion and honesty, with a mind for detail and intrigue. I really enjoyed reading this with my first coffee of the morning.
@Ebontis If i don't get to catch it live then i'll certainly be watching it once it's available when i wake. Long awaited but under unwelcome and sombre circumstances. Certainly looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.
Completely agree with and understand the sentiment. Even though i am largely a Playstation gamer nowadays, my next purchases will be on Xbox (i need a reason to use my new controller anyway.) And PS doesn't have anything coming that interests me so they won't be seeing more of my money any time soon. Unless it's within Destiny itself, and i like to think i am supporting the Bungie devs if i make in game purchases.
Then we get to your other point - the potential layoffs. That will hurt deeply. I have a great deal of time and respect for all those who have devoted their time, skills, and passion into what has been my home from home over the years. If they go, a lot of the soul of Destiny does indeed go with them. But not all of it - not whilst we are still engaging with the game with our own hearts and souls.
I certainly hear you and the emotions that you are expressing. I personally don't feel Sony will feel all that concerned by any of us refusing to purchase their products though - they might not want to invest further in the Destiny franchise but it's not because they have no money so they will likely feel they will survive quite nicely despite a number of people taking their money elsewhere.
My hope remains with the player engagement over all platforms making them realise over time that there is life in and a demand for more Destiny content. If Destiny remains popular, and the game they have decided to support remains in the position it is in, one would hope that they will start to see some sense. Both games can exist if they actually knew what they were doing, or listened to the right people instead of pandering to their investors.
@uhmaayyze That's exactly what i am doing. As an old guardian, and gamer generally, despite all my years of Destiny, i have so much i can still enjoy in the game over three characters that i could be patrolling the world for years to come!!
I played this not long after it was released, and for me it was a joy of a game. I actually enjoyed the combat even though i had read some negatives. But it was the story and the visual beauty of this creation that stole my attention. And then the music........i still listen to it's soundtrack on occasions. This alone narrated my journey through the game in a way i've not experienced before. A wonderful experience.
@A_dmg04 If you were me, an old, retired age guy (thankfully you are not) then you would opt for the 5am. For me that's when my day starts, and i am more alert than i would ever be at 11pm. But hey, the choice is yours. Enjoy.
@samikatplays It really does bring back a level of enjoyment that can be forgotten when you play a lot of endgame activities, which you do. You'll be back to that challenge when you have completed the campaigns so these few days of story driven fun are likely to be really refreshing right now.
All of Destiny 1, and the first couple of years of Destiny 2, were memories i created alongside my wife. Beyond this i crafted a journey as a largely solo guardian, which my wife still watches and supports. With a little downtime in between, and a huge error when i switched my main console that saw me basically starting afresh, this world has been a second home, and a safe space where i could become that version of myself i could never be in real life.
Today, with this final update, i've realised a new sense of motivation, and discovered an even stronger connection and passion for Destiny which will keep my story alive for some time to come.
Same for me too. I have my own long term agenda now which may be surprising given the content i don't immerse myself into. Since that change of platform i mentioned to you, and how i messed up my cross save, i have two characters that have all the campaigns to enjoy again. But for now my warlock is having a blast simply being out in the world, working on triumphs, and orders, and that little level increase every so often.
