Great volleyball season wrapped up today for @GBJHS girls team. An undefeated regular season, two straight sets playoff wins, and some strong tournament results. You were a great group to coach. Congratulations to you all for the hard work. @HRCE_JHsports Akerley Tier 2 Champions
Math 10 spent Friday afternoon outside using clinometers and measuring tapes to find out heights of tall objects and to see if the @EasternShoreDHS ramp was to code.
Math 10 students played ultimate tic tac toe and reviewed surface area and volume of cones, pyramids and spheres today in groups at the whiteboard. Lots of great collaboration.
Thanks @GBJHS.
It's been a great five years teaching at Gaetz Brook.
However it is time to move up the road as I move to @EasternShoreDHS .
Safe summer everyone and see you in fall!
Today we worked on order of operations questions involving positive and negative fractions. Groups did phenomenal using their previous knowledge to work together to solve these problems. #buildingthinkingclassroom#hrcemath
9s worked on adding and subtraction rational mixed fractions.
We started small and built up to the mixed fractions by working at white boards in random groups of 3 to answer 20 questions. I took pictures as they all were so proud the work they did. #buildingthinkingclassrooms
Grade 9s figured out how many pennies spaghetti noodles could hold. They graphed the data, interpolated and extrapolated to estimate values for a given number of spaghetti noodles.
Using polypad on @MathigonOrg today to review equivalent fractions with the grade 8s. So many different tools that could be used. We will certainly be using polypad again.
Grade 8 students worked hard today and had great discussions with each other related to integer order of operations. Thanks @AliciaPotvin1 for the @Desmos activity.
