When my friend Bob hung himself, I was gutted. Gutted and deep in grief and feeling guilty that somehow I didn't see it coming. Almost a decade later and I still tear up a little thinking about it. That's powerful grief. Life changing.

Talking through the feeling with a very patient friend helped. One that *listened* well.

The thing that helped the most: time. Time dulled it, and knowing that time dulled it has helped. But like glass on a beach, it starts sharp and dangerous, wears down and softens with time, never quite goes away but becomes less dangerous.

In time, you get to remembering the good parts more than the bad end.
