@iihtishamm Bro - you were one of the very few (literally) who kept talking about facts rather than posting false news. And all those timely updates, super amazing. 👏🏻

Pakistan played three Cricket World Cups in 1990s. They won in 1992 and were runners-up in 1999. Their only disappointing campaign was in 1996 but even in that tournament they lost just two matches (one of those happened to be a quarter-final).
Global events were rare in the 1990s while in the modern era we have seen 6 ICC men’s ODI and T20 tournaments in the last six years. Pakistan isn’t just losing them, they are being hammered. It took them just 5 days to get out of the Champions Trophy. Nine months ago, they failed to qualify for the Super 8s in the T20 World Cup.
The late 80s and the 90s team won multi-national tournaments in India, Sharjah, Australia, the Asian Test Championship and many high-octane Tests in West Indies, England and India. The current team has been reduced to a bilateral bully because most teams these days play bilateral cricket with their second XIs. So, any comparison with the 90s performance is feeble.
Winning tournament isn’t the only gauge to define greatness. You can lose a tournament and still be a good team as long as you are putting a fight.
For example, New Zealand men’s team haven’t won a white-ball ICC tournament in 25 years, but that does not mean they are a poor team. Same goes for India, who despite being the best team of this generation, took 11 years to win a tournament.
Apart from success in tournaments, you must look at the calibre of players too.
Imran, Wasim, Waqar, Miandad, Inzamam, Shoaib, Saeed, Saqlain, Yousuf, Afridi etc are the names that you would want to have in your all-time Pakistan XI. There isn’t a single player in the current team or from the recently retired lot who straight away walks into Pakistan’s all-time team. And that pretty much sums up the current standards of cricket in Pakistan.
Tired pitches in Dubai, don’t confuse Pakistan’s previous batting innings to this one.
Wasn’t the easiest of chases in the last game here.#ChampionsTrophy
