Trump was waiting for Modi to call him after his 25% tariff bomb. All other big nations/blocs like the EU, UK, Japan, etc had rushed their top leaders to Washington to placate Trump & negotiate softer deals. Trump waited for Modi to call. He’s still waiting. Three hours later no call. Trump began to soften his stand saying we’re negotiating with India. A US trade team is flying to India on Aug 25.

India’s done the right thing by staying calm & issuing a brief, clinical statement that India has noted the US tariff announcement & India will protect its national interest. Trump’s still waiting for Modi’s call.
