One thing that is getting me through my GCSE exam marking is when I come across the script of student who decided to score the question out of 10 with feedback. For example, ‘9/10 Very cool and interesting’. 😂

Book Ideas Required:
Any good books that would be appropriate for a Year 8 ‘Reading for Pleasure’ in form time? Reading in bursts of about 15-20 mins. Also good if there is an audiobook, as I was hoping to play it to the class as they read.

@hartmaths I would say the prefix/suffix ones were good for cross-curricular links and wider vocabulary development. For example, a year 7 class were fascinated that the “-graph” suffix in Geography relates to drawing a graph in maths.

@hartmaths I’ve used Frayer Models like this before with ‘Radius’, ‘Diameter’ and other Tier 3 words. However, I also do prefix’s and suffix’s like “Quad-“, “Equ-“ and “Para-“. We go through it as a class box-by-box, but I also give my example to copy down for ones that struggle.

@missdcox My year 7s were shocked that GCSE maths exams are designed in such a way that a Year 6 pupil can pass/get a grade 5 with all the content taught in primary.

During a lesson on questionnaires, I asked my Year 10 class about their favourite types of chocolate (milk, dark, white,etc.). I told them how I hate mint chocolate because I associate mint with toothpaste. The next day, one of the girls had sent me this presentation... (1/11)
