BREAKING NEWS: Cat Matlala to Be Sentenced Today in R228 Million SAPS Medicare Contract Case

Alleged crime kingpin Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala is expected to be sentenced today after pleading guilty to charges of fraud, corruption, and money laundering linked to the controversial R228 million Medicare 24/SAPS contract.

Matlala has admitted guilt on all charges and has since turned state witness, submitting an affidavit to investigators in which he allegedly names several high-ranking SAPS officials implicated in the deal.

ALSO BREAKING:

One of the co-accused, Brigadier Rachel Matjeng, has officially been dismissed from the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Her dismissal follows the conclusion of an internal disciplinary hearing, where she was found guilty of multiple counts of serious misconduct relating to her association with Matlala.

Court proceedings previously revealed allegations that Matjeng received R300,000 in connection with the matter.

The case remains one of the most closely watched corruption investigations involving senior police officials.
