A teenage boy has been convicted of attempting to murder a 13-year-old girl who was attacked with a sword during a camping trip.
The victim was stabbed 10 times by the boy, who was 14 at the time, in an incident in woodland off the A63 outside Hessle, near Hull.
This attack is beyond horrific—completely senseless, brutal, and life-altering for the victim. To be set upon for absolutely no reason and left with permanent injuries is something no one should ever have to endure. The fact that the attackers tried to excuse it by blaming alcohol makes it even worse.
The sentences for Toni and Ellie Patterson seem appropriate given the severity of the assault, but Abbie Patterson's suspended sentence feels far too lenient, considering she stood over the unconscious victim and took part in the attack. It’s also shocking that Tonia Stott only received a year when she continued kicking the woman even while first aid was being given.
This case really highlights the terrifying reality that some people are just looking for a fight, and innocent bystanders can end up paying the price. The victim’s life is permanently changed, and no prison sentence can undo that. Hopefully, she receives all the support she needs to rebuild her life as much as possible.
What are your thoughts on the sentencing?
Car Dealer Jailed for Eight Years After Attempting to Smuggle Firearms Parts from Pakistan
72 Glock pistol components hidden in vintage Datsun discovered at London Gateway Port
A man who attempted to smuggle 72 firearms parts into the UK, hidden inside a vintage car shipped from Pakistan, has been sentenced to eight years in prison. Yasir Khan, 40, pleaded guilty to smuggling firearms after a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation uncovered his plot to import 36 top slides and 36 barrels for 9mm Glock self-loading pistols.
The illegal components were meticulously concealed within a 1976 Datsun Sunny, which arrived at London Gateway Port on 7 July 2024. Border Force officers, working alongside the NCA, discovered the haul hidden beneath the windscreen, behind the engine block, and inside the fuel tank.
Following the discovery, NCA officers launched an investigation and arrested Khan, who claimed to be a car dealer, on 12 July in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Today, at Birmingham Crown Court, Khan, of Lea Road, Sparkhill, was sentenced after admitting to the firearms smuggling charges.
NCA investigators found voice notes on Khan's mobile phone that revealed contact with a supplier in Pakistan who had access to the manufacture of firearm components. The supplier had invited Khan to visit "the factory" during the summer of 2023. Further evidence suggested Khan had been involved in a similar importation attempt in November 2023. Voice notes and videos on his phone showed him struggling with ammunition jamming in firearms that had been assembled and test-fired.
The investigation also revealed that during 2023, Khan had purchased several deactivated firearms, which authorities believe he intended to convert back into working lethal weapons.
NCA Senior Investigating Officer David Phillips said:
“Working with our law enforcement partners at home and abroad, preventing illegal firearms from reaching the streets of the UK is a key priority for the NCA.
"The NCA and Border Force have prevented this huge array of component parts from entering the criminal marketplace and being used to produce lethal firearms for organised crime groups.”

There is no justice in the UK
Bold words, Ivanka! If tanking the economy, taxing the life out of the working class, and making Britain about as exciting as a Tesla on low battery count as ‘terrible crimes,’ then Elon might just have a point. Starmer’s Britain: where ambition goes to die and tax bills go to infinity and beyond!
