Found out one of my students will not be returning. The class made cards for her. I am impressed by the thoughtfulness shown in the notes!

When a student asks if he can have chicken nuggets in the classroom, you investigate. Told me he made them himself.

I like the enthusiasm to learn and practice math!

Glad to have recess outside again!

Do you see an arrangement that would have led to a sum closer to 1,000?

[Samuel VanBockel @MrVanBockel]

Today the class learned Target 1,000. This game builds number sense and addition skills. There has been a lot of math talk while they have been playing! #WeAreEisenhower #AHschools

In Third grade we’re measuring objects (and sometimes people) in inches.

[Samuel VanBockel @MrVanBockel]

2/2 Our student learning English found something 54 cm.

1/2 Third grade doing a measurement scavenger hunt around the classroom. My favorite “find” was that some students are 133 cm. #WeAreEisenhower #AHschools

Third grade is using sticky notes as square units to find the area of objects around the classroom.

Since we have lunch in the classroom, we have been practicing manners and had our Fancy Dinner with @LillianDeRung and @HeidiKouba today!

Very proud of their manners, that they asked ?s that showed they cared about the person, & their fancy attire! #WeAreEisenhower #ahschools

3rd grade is using cube blocks to make number lines to connect their knowledge of repeated addition to a better understanding of multiplication.

Savoring every minute I have with these students in the classroom. (There was no sharing of blocks). #WeAreEisenhower #AHschools #MLC

This Bridges math lesson was designed to have a scavenger hunt around the classroom to find objects of specific lengths. Because of Covid, we took the scavenger hunt outside. (They mostly found sticks 🤷). #WeAreEisenhower #AHschools #hybridlearning

I really want to go back to school in the classroom. I worry about the safety of kids who are home all day by themselves/taking care of younger siblings because both parents have to work.

Covid-19 is dangerous, but so is 8 year olds being home alone all day. What is the balance?

On this day in 1921, white mobs in Tulsa, OK, destroyed a Black community and killed several dozen Black residents; some estimate the death toll at up to 300 victims. To overcome racial inequality, we must confront our history. Share this #racialinjustice https://t.co/lBsBm6NLTm
