Happy Thanksgiving all! I missed a week but made a post for the past two weeks. In this post I share my materials for our unit on the Unit Circle, my end of unit GRASP project, and some resources I made for Analyzing Derivatives in AP Calculus.

New post on this past week. Some Circuit Training for AP Calculus Unit 4, my tests for Transformations of Functions, and a handout for Radians and the Unit Circle. (also my students bombed AP Calc Unit 4 π³)

New weekly post on the site... Absolute Value Transformations, Transformations End-of-Unit Project, and Possible Issue with the AP Calculus AB CED

I have been absent for a long time. Have been trying to restructure our precalculus curriculum and get realigned with the new AP Calculus AB CED. I have a new website though! Would love some feedback https://t.co/GvJmjemEL7
@DanLyonsLFOmath It took some initial planning but I had every student encode a message and submit through GForms with their encoding matrix. Then I randomly swapped across all classes. My checking process showed me who had what and I didn't have any trouble like that.
Using College Board Precalculus standards currently. No matrices are included but I still taught this year. Our school is moving into SBG so I can justify it less. Will students suffer for not learning matrices in HS or should I look for new standards? #MTBoS#iteachmath
@lpohny@iteachmathAll I have a couple of projects I ran when I taught Algebra II but I could never get in a full PBL unit. I try to have a summative project for every unit as well as the unit test to do applications and get students working collaboratively.
@stoodle I couldn't imagine going without times for extra support. We have an extra hour after school on Tues/Thurs for academic support and I give up planning time on top of that to help S's who pop in. Huge difference in S preformance from my last school w/o those opportunities though.
@DanLyonsLFOmath Yeah, my students finished the unit with a project on encoding and decoding matrices which they enjoyed. However the rest of the unit was reviled. I'd likely have a mutiny if I even mentioned Gauss-Jordan in my Precalculus class right now.
Taking everything down for the year. Wondering about next year already, getting excited for '19-20. Anyone have some bulletin boards (with a focus on secondary math, Precalculus, or AP Calculus) they were proud of that I can shamelessly rip off for next year? #MTBoS#iteachmath
@MrsArnoldPlus1 I scoured the internet before creating mine. Unfortunately I cannot attribute the original creator I adapted this from because I forgot to write down the source. You are free to check what I did and modify it for your own purposes. https://t.co/zqMMp5Ae7e
@mrdardy@MathSenseLLC I think they are still a growing organization but they are focused on inquiry based education. They have a Calculus workbook on their web site that I really like.
@dm_woods @iteachmathAll I am currently running an activity where students have to create their own trig identities, verify with justifications, and then create their own card sort. Not precisely what you're doing but in the general area. If you would like further details let me know.
