In @SteveHartmanCBS story about @ReadWithMalcolm, Malcolm mentioned being proud of finishing the Hunger Games series in 3 days. When Read Bowl started, Asher started the Hunger Games, inspired by Malcolm. He just finished the 3rd book as Read Bowl '26 winds down! 6,813 min - MVP!
This year @CathyBreisacher changed up our fall book decorating contest; instead of pumpkins, it was a book tissue box. Emma picked “Odder” by the @kaaauthor! Later this year, she’ll read “The One and Only Ivan” with the rest of our 4th grade students! (One of my faves!)🦦 🦍
Hi teachers & friends! To celebrate the upcoming release of my 25th book, I am giving away 2500 copies of I Survived the Dust Bowl over the next 10 days.

What #ReadBowl is all about:
Background: a new @Crumbl opened in town today. Here’s a message I received from a parent:
“<S> read 1 hour and 40 min. while waiting in crumbl cookies line.”
I’m sure many in line were scrolling, but this girl was READING! Thank you, Malcolm!
Hey AJ Brown @1kalwaysopen_! That viral sideline moment of you reading a book? It’s inspiring thousands of students and teachers in Philly and across the nation. Keep showing the world that reading is just as powerful as what happens on the field!
Kick-off for Read Bowl XIII! Always a joy to share the uplifting and inspirational story of Malcolm Mitchell and @ReadWithMalcolm with our 4th graders every year…now, let’s get busy reading and maybe even bring that championship to PA!
Since The Wild Robot was the first BIG novel Emma read independently, and since we loved the movie too, Roz was the perfect subject for Emma to create in pumpkin form for @CathyBreisacher’s annual Pumpkin Book Character contest! Thanks for the inspiration, @itspeterbrown! 🎃 🤖
@KateDiCamillo
Life imitating art! Can’t wait to share this story with our 4th graders this year!

“But then I became aware of a very peculiar smell, a very strong smell. I raised my eyes slowly. And standing right in front of me was a bear. Yes ma’am.”🐻
Students participated in a virtual meet with @laurenTarshis today! Thanks to @CathyBreisacher for all the work behind the scenes to make this possible…as a long-time history buff, it was fascinating to hear about her process and so exciting to hear about her upcoming entries!
Love sharing @kaaauthor’s “The One and Only Ivan”w/our 4th graders. After reading, we enjoyed some of Ivan’s favorites snacks & students researched & created a mural of Ivan’s jungle or Ruby’s savanna habitat. We pieced everything together like Ivan did. Love how it turned out!
Wonderful school program celebrating PA and leading up to our nation’s 250th birthday! K-4 students received all kinds of goodies. 3rd & 4th grade students got to hear from an excellent living historian portraying William Penn! Thanks to @America250_PA & @America250paC
Fantastic pres. by @charliespaniard yesterday…spoke of overcoming adversity, dealing w/negativity, & achieving goals! Students copies of his book “Watch Me” thanks to Keystone Custom Homes! Great way to add minutes for our final quarter of ReadBowl 2024 with @ReadWithMalcolm
Amazing opportunity to be on Facebook Live with @ReadWithMalcolm - Super Bowl Champ Malcolm Mitchell and 5x Olympic Gold Medalist @kristiyamaguchi! My students have read over 5,000 minutes in the first two weeks of #ReadBowl2024! We’re pumped for a big 2nd half coming up!
@kcollazo@DoInkTweets Can you share a behind the scenes of the set-up for this? I’ve done photos of kiddos standing with the green screen, but this is amazing!
