Lumumba Vea, one of DR Congo’s most recognisable and passionate football supporters, will not be in the stands for his country’s crucial World Cup Round of 32 clash against England.

Despite his unwavering support for the Leopards, he was denied a United States visa and will now miss one of the biggest matches in DR Congo’s football history.

As I said before this World Cup began, it has turned into a mess because of the racist regime in Washington run by Donald Trump.

It is unimaginable that Lumumba Vea, a well-known Congolese football fan who represents not only football but also the history and spirit of the Congo, would be denied a visa to attend DR Congo’s decisive match against Uzbekistan.

This is the same Congo whose first Prime Minister, Patrice Lumumba, was tortured and assassinated with the involvement of the American CIA and the Belgians, before his body was dissolved in acid.

One would have thought America would carry some shame over that history. But under Donald Trump, America has no embarrassment, no sense of proportion, and no humility. It behaves like a drugged bully.

Imagine if our lives depended on America’s sense of justice.
Thank God they do not.

🔸Lol. That’s lazy, ahistorical analysis that can only be pushed by someone who either has a dirty agenda or does not follow what I’ve said on record about Tagwirei and his coterie of corrupt political elites for years.

Some may have only woken up to Tagwirei’s corruption today but we’ve been condemning it since Command Ugly Culture in 2019.

We can walk and chew gum - ie condemn the June 2008 violence and the corruption that characterized Mugabe’s era (especially as we are in June) AND condemn the corruption and mismanagement of today. Why must we whitewash the past with no accountability or sincere acknowledgment that the people were wronged? Do we want what seems expedient or what will set us on a true path of progress? We do not like either of these iterations of the system. There is no good poison and bad poison. The system has to go.

To put the matter to bed, Zanu PF in whatever shape or form is rotten to the core. Their model, which is based on cronyism, patronage, corruption and violence can never take us into the future. Unless one is malicious, they’ll know that I’ve been saying this for years.
