Scott Bessent’s premise is backwards. 🇨🇦 Canada is not asking for the benefits of being an American state. It is asking the United States to honour a trade agreement that America negotiated, signed and ratified in good faith. 🤝
The Americans wanted continental economic integration because it benefited American workers, consumers and businesses. Trump personally praised CUSMA as the “largest, most significant, modern and balanced trade agreement in history.” Canada accepted that bargain and organized billions of dollars in investment around it. 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Now Trump wants to stop the world, rewrite the deal unilaterally and portray Canada’s insistence that America keep its word as entitlement. 🚨
That argument may appeal to people desperate to believe every Trump reversal is somehow strategic. To everyone else, especially America’s allies and investors, it sends a much more damaging message: even a signed American agreement is only valid until the United States decides it wants more. 📉

@KathrynMathias1 What US claims as Canadian discrimination vs US is 1) CUSMA, 2) retaliatory tariffs & 3) other reciprocal measures like the boycott & removing US booze. US changes to the deal made Canada a vassal state. All this is pertinent info that should be included. https://t.co/Uk9y6qvsAj
@hardyrenos Yea we can. The midterms are in November. The trade war will impact the day-to-day lives of many Americans which will push people to vote. If the house and senate flip then Canada wins.
@JGerhardsen88@jkenney Published books are not proof of truth. Alex Jones has published books and he’s an idiot.
If you truly believe what you said then whatever books you’re “sourcing” likely reflect the claims of the author and not reality.
