Introducing Nesa’s Chief of Security, Dr. Hongyang Zhang. Dr. Zhang is a visionary in ZKML. He is the Creator of zkDL and the Creator of zkLLAMA, two of the most foundational breakthroughs for zero knowledge proof research in AI. Dr. Zhang is also a pioneer of advanced algorithms for enhancing LLM inference and training speed. He is the creator of EAGLE, the fastest known speculative sampling in the world, which has become the industry baseline for fast decoding of LLMs that enables a significant boost in generation efficiency, 3x faster than vanilla decoding. Dr. Zhang was awarded 1st place (out of 1,500 teams) in the CVPR 2021 Security AI Challenge, 1st place in Google’s Unrestricted Adversarial Challenge, 1st place (out of 396 teams) in NeurIPS Adversarial Vision Challenge in Robust Model Track, and 1st place again at NeurIPS in 2018 for Targeted Attacks Track. Not just an award winning AI researcher but also a Security and Privacy specialist, Dr. Zhang’s research has been accepted to NeurIPS, ICML, ACM CCS (the top Security Conference in the world for his zkDL breakthrough in 2024), ICLR, AAAI, IEEE, CVPR, AISTATS, ITCS, and EMNLP. He is also the creator of RAIN which enables LLM alignment without fine-tuning. Dr. Zhang is a Professor of AI at University of Waterloo, leads the SafeAI Lab, and has been the Area Chair for NeurIPS for the past two years (2023, 2024).
