A message to Messi. 🩷
After a record-setting World Cup run, Leo Messi returns to MLS acton tonight — and @InterMiamiCF fans are ready to welcome him home.
Two Lionel Messi records that will always shock me:
1. Never ending a season without a trophy.
2. Never exiting at the group stage of any competition, for club and country. This one ought to be statistically impossible. People get compared to him that have memories of multiple group stage exists.
Across two decades, these are unreal.
All we wanted for Messi was one Copa America and now we are sad that he can’t win back to back World Cups. We have come so far that we have forgotten where we came from.
Messi was 19 when he made his debut in the world cup.
His Jersey no was 19.
He met Yamal 19 years ago.
Yamal's 19th birthday was few days ago.
He wears jersey no 19.
Messi & Yamal's birthday are 19 days apart.
The world cup final is on July 19th.
What a coincidence.
End.
We’ve come a full circle.
In 2007, Messi was paired with a baby named Lamine Yamal during a charity photoshoot. It could’ve been *any* child, but somehow, it was him.
This child went on to become the #10 of Barcelona and is the future.
17 years later, on Sunday, they meet again. The hands that once held the little prince, will now shake before battle on football’s biggest stage.
Too good of a script.
