@gabsmashh Given that we don't have plate steel armor anymore, I would just go with the normal mace. Doesn't get stuck, no risk of me getting hit accidentally, doesn't weigh a ton, and doesn't need any sharpening/upkeep. Cudgel is only +5dmg, mace is +15dmg for comparison.
