@DobberHockey Maybe if ownership was thinking teardown/rebuild was a possibility, but considering this is a 1 year window to bounce back to playoff status (AM34 out if they suck again) Knies + Raddysh >>>>>>>> Byram.
@MitchyGallo@MannyTerrebonne Leafs needed a RD that could put up some points, play 20+ min and most importantly move the puck in the right direction. They have a 1 year window to show AM34 they're improving. I'll take this option instead of flipping Knies for a boom/bust Byram type.
@fksambennett He's saying if they hired Carle, it would be more of a PR move (thinking a rookie HC would have a hard time pulling off a quick turnaround).
@meloroast@IceMetrix Almost a guarantee at the very end, but with the cap jumping $10ish per year, $8m becomes the equivalent to $6m in 3-4 years. If he can be a Top 4 for 5/6 years, it's worth those last 2 rough ones.
@_NickRichard Agreed, but this appears to be their best chance of grabbing a dman that was a legit top pair guy last year. I'll take this route over flipping Knies for Nemec/Byrum or something like that.
@WatchMyReview It's a make or break season when it comes to the direction of the team. Leafs are obviously trying to bounce back as a playoff team. Handing the crease to a goalie thats played over 30 games once in his career and two rookies is the definition of rolling the dice.
@skid_shivers@MapleLeafs@FriedgeHNIC The better insult would have been 3rd round of the playoffs, considering Leafs just had longest active playoff streak ended this season.
@HockeyPatrol Was pretty confident this story would have everyone digging out the pitchforks and torches!!
"Won't someone please think of the children!!!"
@kman1320@_NickRichard One runs a business that runs a bunch of Wendy's. One has zero experience in mgmt. It's more or less grabbing two guys off the street to run the team at the centre of the hockey universe.
You're really asking reasons why he's nervous??
@ilovetoronto124 @_NickRichard Sure. But that doesn't change the fact hes been running fast food joints for last several years. They're literally hiring two guys off the street that used to be in the game.
@flakes520@JeffVeillette Lol.
Only thing that gets clicks, views, attention.
There was literally hundreds/thousands of hours of debate nationwide over Frankie Corrado being a healthy scratch for 35 games under Babcock.
@hatricklaine28 Lol.
NMC - there's going to be 2/3 teams max that are going to bidding on each of them. You're not going to get 6 quarters for a dollar. Lucky to get 3 decent pieces.
@mcclusk@OFFSIDETALK Also, there's obviously something off with him (speed, shot, etc), but his usage, the system, and lack of talent around him certainly did not help.
