Hi I'm Tom. I'm a graduate of @marjonuni with an undergraduate degree in BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Sciences. I am currently a trainee English teacher and I'm completing my PGCE at marjon.

Saying goodbye to my year 11s today after teaching some of them for 4 years and being the tutor to others for the last 3 was incredibly difficult. However I’m incredibly proud to see how far they’ve come and its days like this that make the job worth it #classof2026

Teaching is great apart from the TikTok’s that kids make about me! That’s the most frustrating thing. Anyone got any advice for me? TikTok won’t take them down either which is even more annoying!

I’ve finished my first placement @brixhamcollege. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute and I can’t believe how quick time has flown. The English department are so welcoming and supportive. I can’t wait to see what placement 2 brings after the holidays. Merry Christmas all 🎄

My favourite thing happened to me yesterday. I’m stood at the front the front teaching and I set my year 8s off on their next task. A hand goes up and all I get is “sir, what do you want to be when you grow up?” Can’t write it bless them 😂

Today I taught my first full lesson. It wasn’t perfect and there’s stuff to work on. I received lots of great feedback and the students were well engaged with what we were doing. To me that’s a win. #ITE #edutwitter

First week of placement completed. What a week. Very very full on but thoroughly enjoyable. The department is super supportive and I feel very lucky to be at this school. I begin to do some teaching from Monday and I can’t wait 🙌🏻 #edutwitter #ITE
