To carry out the conspiracy she lured three associates—Azad, Gaurav and Afzal—with the promise of money. On the night in question she willingly sat in their car and spent two days moving between different places. Then, according to the plan, she had her own hands and feet tied, inflicted injuries on herself, got into the sack, and told her associates to dump her by the roadside so the whole country would treat it as a brutal crime.

Once the truth emerged, police immediately gave the five innocent men a clean chit and released them—men who, within hours and through no fault of their own, had been branded criminals in the eyes of the entire country. As soon as the woman was discharged from hospital, police handcuffed her and sent her three associates to jail on charges of criminal conspiracy and fabricating false evidence.

Yet the most distasteful faces in the entire episode belonged to the media, the politicians and the Women’s Commission. The media, which in its hunger for TRP had held court on prime time for 24 hours without verifying the facts and painted the innocent men as ���monsters,” fell silent the moment the truth came out. No channel went on air to apologise to those men. The politicians who had made reckless statements for cheap popularity simply disappeared. And the Women’s Commission, which had sprung into action without any investigation, did not even demand strict legal action against the woman who had filed the false case.

The incident became a bitter illustration of how terribly laws can sometimes be misused out of hatred and greed—how a fabricated story brought five innocent lives to the brink of the gallows.

Every year thousands of cases of molestation, false rape and false dowry harassment (Section 498A) are registered at police stations. Were these laws enacted so that they could be turned into weapons of vendetta and blackmail? Today protests are held against men, and slogans are raised on the streets with placards—
“Ek kachori, Do samosas, In mardon ka, kya bharosa”

But the larger question remains: when a false case destroys, in a single stroke, the life, job and reputation of an innocent man and his entire family, has there ever been a movement against this open misuse of the law?

Alleged ‘Second Nirbhaya Case’: When five innocent men were accused of gang rape, and a horrifying ₹53 lakh conspiracy emerged behind it

On the morning of 18 October 2022, a suspicious sack was found lying by the side of Ashram Road in the Nandgram area of Ghaziabad. When passers-by and patrolling police opened the sack, the scene inside made everyone shudder. A 36-year-old woman, hands and feet tied, in a semi-naked state, was groaning in pain.

As soon as she reached the hospital, the account she gave shook the entire country. Crying, she stated that two days earlier, while returning from her brother’s house after celebrating a birthday, five men in a Scorpio had abducted her at gunpoint. She alleged that she was held captive in an unknown room, that the five men had assaulted her for two days, and that an iron rod had been inserted into her private parts.

Once the story surfaced, a wave of outrage swept television channels and social media. People began coming out onto the streets, calling it the “second Nirbhaya case of Delhi-NCR” and demanding justice. The Women’s Commission, without examining any medical report, immediately served strict notices on the police, and politicians appeared on television making reckless statements and demanding that the accused be hanged outright. Under heavy pressure from the public and the media, police promptly took the five named men—Shahrukh, Javed, Dheerendra, Deenu and Aurangzeb—into custody. The whole country wanted to see those five hanging from the noose.

But Ghaziabad Police were faced with a puzzling case whose strands did not fit together. When the surveillance, technical and forensic teams began a detailed investigation, the layers of the sensational claims started coming apart one by one:

- CCTV footage from dozens of cameras at the spot where the woman claimed the abduction had taken place was examined. Throughout that night, no Scorpio had passed there, nor was there any footage of a woman being forcibly dragged into a vehicle.
- The mobile phone she claimed the assailants had stolen remained switched on both days, and its tower location kept changing along different routes in Delhi and Ghaziabad.
- Continuous long conversations with a young man named “Azad” were found on that phone.
- When the medical report from Delhi’s GTB Hospital emerged, the doctors were also surprised. The injuries on the woman’s body showed no signs of a violent struggle. The wounds had been inflicted in such a way that they posed no threat to life—as if someone had carefully injured herself merely to manufacture false evidence.

As suspicion deepened, police took “Azad” into custody. Under tough questioning he broke down, and the truth he revealed left the investigators stunned.

The reality was that no abduction had occurred, nor any gang rape. The entire horrifying script had been written to seize a house worth ₹53 lakh. An old property dispute between the woman and the five men was pending in Delhi’s Karkardooma court. She wanted the house transferred to her name at any cost. When the legal route failed, she devised a terrifying trap to send the five men to prison for life.

* जिस जगह से महिला ने अपहरण का दावा किया था, वहां के दर्जनों सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फुटेज खंगाली गई। उस पूरी रात वहां न कोई स्कॉर्पियो गुज���ी थी और न ही किसी महिला को जबरन गाड़ी में खींचने की कोई हलचल दिखी।
* जिस मोबाइल को बदमाशों द्वारा लूट लिए जाने का दावा किया गया था, वह दोनों दिन चालू था और उसकी टावर लोकेशन दिल्ली और गाजियाबाद के अलग-अलग रास्तों पर लगातार बदलती रही।
* उस मोबाइल से लगातार 'आजाद' नाम के एक युवक के साथ लंबी बातचीत के रिकॉर्ड मिले।
* जब दिल्ली के जीटीबी अस्पताल की मेडिकल रिपोर्ट सामने आई, तो डॉक्टर भी हैरान रह गए। महिला के शरीर पर जो चोटें थीं, उनमें किसी हिंसक संघर्ष (स्ट्रगल) के निशान नहीं थे। घाव इस तरह बनाए गए थे जिससे जान को कोई खतरा न पहुंचे—मानो किसी ने नाप-तौलकर सिर्फ झूठे सबूत तैयार करने के लिए खुद को जख्मी किया हो।
संदेह गहराते ही पुलिस ने 'आजाद' को हिरासत मे��� लिया। पुलिस के कड़े सवालों के आगे आजाद टूट गया और उसने जो सच उगला, उसने जांच अधिकारियों के पैरों तले जमीन खिसका दी।
हकीकत यह थी कि कोई अपहरण हुआ ही नहीं था, न ही कोई गैंगरेप हुआ था। यह पूरी खौफनाक पटकथा 53 लाख ��ुपये के एक मकान को हड़पने के लिए लिखी गई थी। दिल्ली की कड़कड़डूमा अदालत में उस महिला का उन पांचों पुरुषों के साथ एक संपत्ति को लेकर पुराना विवाद चल रहा था। महिला हर हाल में वह मकान अपने नाम करवाना चाहती थी। जब कानूनी रास्ते से बात नहीं बनी, तो उसने उन पांचों को जिंदगी भर के लिए जेल भिजवाने का खौफनाक जाल बुना।
इस साजिश को अंजाम देने के लिए उसने अपने तीन साथियों—आजाद, गौरव और अफजल—को पैसे देने क�� लालच देकर शामिल किया। घटना वाली रात वह खुद अपनी मर्जी से उनकी कार में बैठी और दो दिनों तक अलग-अलग जगहों पर घूमती रही। फिर तय योजना के मुताबिक उसने खुद अपने हाथ-पैर बंधवाए, खुद को चोट पहुंचाई, बोरी में घुसी और साथियों से कहा कि उसे सड़क किनारे फेंक दें ताकि पूरा देश इसे दरिंदगी समझे।
सच्चाई सामने आते ही पुलिस ने उन पांचों बेकसूर पुरुषों को तत्काल क्लीन चिट देकर रिहा किया, जो कुछ ही घंटों में बिना किसी कसूर के पूरे देश की नजरों में मुजरिम बन चुके थे। अस्पताल से छुट्टी मिलते ही पुलिस ने उसी महिला के हाथों में हथकड़ी पहनाई और उसके तीनों साथियों को साजिश रचने तथा झूठे साक्ष्य गढ़ने के आरोप में जेल भेज दिया।
लेकिन इस पूरे मामले में सबसे घिनौना चेहरा मीडिया, नेताओं और महिला आयोग का सामने आया। जिस मीडिया ने टीआरपी की भूख में बिना सच्चाई जाने 24 घंटे प्राइम टाइम पर अदालत लगाई और बेकसूरों को 'दरिंदा' साबित कर दिया, सच सामने आते ही उसके मुंह पर ताला लग गया। किसी चैनल ने ऑन-एयर आकर उन बेकसूरों से माफी नहीं मांगी। जिन नेताओं ने सस्ती लोकप्रियता के लिए अनाप-शनाप बयान दिए थे, वे दुबक कर बैठ गए। और जो महिला आयोग बिना जांच के तुरंत एक्शन में आ गया था, उसने इस झूठी महिला के खिलाफ सख्त कानूनी कार्रवाई की कोई मांग तक नहीं उठाई।
यह घटना इस बात की कड़वी मिसाल बन गई कि नफरत और लालच में आकर कभी-कभी कानूनों का कितना भयानक दुरुपयोग किया जाता है, जहां एक गढ़ी हुई झूठी कहानी पांच बेकसूर जिंदगियों को सूली पर चढ़ाने की दहलीज तक ले आई थी।
हर साल छेड़छाड़, फर्जी बलात्कार और झूठे दहेज उत्पीड़न (498A) के हजारों मुकदमे थानों में दर्ज होते हैं। क्या कानून इसलिए बनाए गए थे कि कोई इन्हें अपनी रंजिश और ब्लैकमेलिंग का हथियार बना ले? आज पुरुषों के खिलाफ धरने होते हैं, सड़कों पर तख्तियां लेकर नारे लगाए जाते हैं—"एक कचौरी दो समोसा, इन मर्दों का क्या भरोसा!" लेकिन सबसे बड़ा सवाल यह है कि जब किसी झूठे केस में किसी बेकसूर लड़के और उसके पूरे परिवार की जिंदगी, नौकरी और इज्जत एक झटके में खाक हो जाती है, तब क्या कभी कानून के इस खुले दुरुपयोग के खिलाफ भी कोई आंदोलन हुआ?

कथित 'दूसरा निर्भया कांड': जब पांच बेकसूरों पर लगा गैंगरेप का आरोप, और पीछे निकली ₹53 लाख की खौफनाक साजिश

18 अक्टूबर 2022 की सुबह, गाजियाबाद के नंदग्राम इलाके में आश्रम रोड के किनारे एक संदिग्ध बोरी पड़ी मिली। राहगीरों और गश्त कर रही पुलिस ने जब उस बोरी को खोला, तो अंदर का दृश्य देखकर हर कोई सिहर उठा। हाथ-पैर बंधी, अधनंगी हालत में 36 साल की एक महिला दर्द से कराह रही थी।
अस्पताल पहुंचते ही महिला ने जो दास्तां सुनाई, उसने पूरे देश को झकझोर कर रख दिया। उसने रोते हुए बयान दिया कि दो दिन पहले जब वह अपने भाई के घर से जन्मदिन मनाकर लौट रही थी, तभी स्कॉर्पियो सवार पांच लोगों ने तमंचे के बल पर उसका अपहरण कर लिया। उसने आरोप लगाया कि उसे एक अनजान कमरे में बंधक बनाकर रखा गया, ��ांचों लोगों ने दो दिनों तक उसके साथ दरिंदगी की और उसके गुप्तांग में लोहे की रॉड डाल दी।
कहानी सामने आते ही टीवी चैनलों और सोशल मीडिया पर आक्रोश का सैलाब आ गया। लोग सड़कों पर उतरने लगे और इसे 'दिल्ली-एनसीआर का दूसरा निर्भया कांड' बताकर इंसाफ की मांग होने लगी। महिला आयोग ने बिना कोई मेडिकल रिपोर्ट देखे तुरंत पुलिस को कड़े नोटिस थमा दिए और नेताओं ने टीवी पर आकर अनाप-शनाप बयानबाजी करते हुए आरोपि��ों को सीधे फांसी देने की मांग शुरू कर दी। जनता और मीडिया के भारी दबाव में पुलिस ने बिना देर किए नामजद पांचों पुरुषों—शाहरुख, जावेद, धीरेंद्र, दीनू और औरंगजेब—को तुरंत हिरासत में ले लिया। पूरा देश उन पांचों को फांसी के फंदे पर लटकते देखना चाहता था।
लेकिन गाजियाबाद पुलिस के सामने एक ऐसा पहेलीनुमा केस था, जिसकी कड़ियां आपस में मेल नहीं खा रही थीं। पुलिस की सर्विलांस, तकनीकी और फॉरेंसिक टीमों न��� जब बारीकी से पड़ताल शुरू की, तो ��नसनीखेज दावों की परतें एक-एक कर उधड़ने लगीं:
