FG Approves ₦70,000 Monthly Transport Allowance for Workers for Six Months
The Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee is expected to be constituted and commence meetings immediately.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of the conciliation meeting held at the Ministry of Labour and Employment between the Federal Government and the Nigerian Labour Congress.
The Federal Government outlined a series of measures to cushion the effects of rising petroleum pump prices on Nigerian workers, including a transport intervention of ₦ 70,000 monthly for six months, beginning in November 2026.
The resolutions also provide for payment of peculiar allowance arrears in three equal monthly instalments from November, while nineteen months of outstanding allowances for health workers are to be redeemed within three months, beginning in December 2026.
On tax relief, the meeting agreed that the matter should be taken to the National Executive Council, NEC, for consideration.
