Update, our virtual field trip stayed local today. We visited our greenhouse here and GVEP to see our plants. Happy to report they are lookin' good! The class is discussing how we can support some droopy plants. Any suggestions?

Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world in part of the Himalaya mountain range.
Fun fact: since the Indian plate is continuously pushing into the Eurasian plate, the mountain actually gets taller every year.
Can you guess how much it grows per year? π€π»

These are the Himalayas! It's a mountain range that formed along the convergent plate boundary where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates are colliding. Huge mountain forming and Earthquakes are the result. #convergentplateboundary#virtualfieldtrip
Update:
My virtual field trip has brought me to the San Andreas Fault in California. This fault occurs where the Pacific and North American tectonic plates "slide" past each other. The friction between the plates makes this area a hot spot for Earthquakes #shaky#transform

If you guessed the underwater mid-ocean ridge you are correct! The mid-ocean ridge is a divergent plate boundary that bisects the Atlantic ocean and is the source of new ocean floor every day! #divergent#platetectonics#virtualfieldtrip
Continuing our virtual field trip, seeing a theme? Here's the African Rift Valley. A divergent plate boundary where two continental plates are moving apart. Volcanoes are common along divergent plate boundaries! #divergent#triparoundtheglobe
This still gives me chills.
