🟣これは9世紀にインドのラージャスターン州メーワール地方で制作された女性の胴体彫刻である『トルソ』を映した写真

素材には『黒色緑泥石』が使用され、緑泥石は比較的加工が容易な変成岩の一種で、細かな肉体表現やアクセサリーのディテールを緻密に彫り込むのに適しており、表面が磨かれて黒くしっとりとした滑らかな質感を生み出している

さらに美学的なポイントとして身体が頭・胸・腰の3カ所でS字状にゆるやかに曲がる『トリバンガ（三曲姿勢）』と呼ばれる古代インド美術の伝統的ポーズをとっており、肘や膝を曲げることで、石彫でありながら非常にしなやかで優美な躍動感を表現している

本来は頭部・両腕・両脚が揃った完全な立像であったが、インドの寺院建造物は、後世の王朝交代や歴史的紛争、あるいは地震などの自然災害によって破壊・改築されることが多く、その過程で突起部分（首、腕、脚）が欠損したと推測されている

1972年に博物館のコレクションに加わり、首や手足が失われたことでかえって『造形そのものの美しさ』が際立つ傑作として常設展示されており、まさに『古代インド彫刻芸術の至宝』とも呼ぶべき奇跡の造形美である
